Terms of Use

Last updated: 10 October 2026

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of Mapelle ("Mapelle", "we", "us") about your use of the Mapelle app and this website (together, "the Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.

3. Signing in

You sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your Apple account and your iPhone secure, and for what is done in the app while signed in as you.

4. What you may do with the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to install and use Mapelle on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, as allowed by the App Store's rules. You may not:

5. Your content

Your map, your places, and the photos, videos, recordings and notes you add are yours. They are kept on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, not with us, as the Privacy Policy explains. You are responsible for what you add, and for having the right to use it (for example, an audio file you upload).

6. Other people's services and content

The app shows a map from Apple, finds places and routes with Mapbox, shows write-ups from Wikipedia, uses information from OpenStreetMap, and plays short clips of songs from Deezer. Those services, and the maps, text, pictures and music they provide, belong to them or to their rights holders, and their own terms apply to them. They can change or stop at any time, and parts of the app that depend on them may then change or stop working.

Railway and tube lines in the app are © OpenStreetMap contributors and are used under the Open Database Licence.

7. Safety and accuracy

Mapelle is a diary of where you have been. It is not a navigation or safety tool.

8. Free of charge

Mapelle is free. There is no paid version, no subscription and no advertising. We take no payments. Your phone company and Apple may charge you for the mobile data and iCloud storage you use.

9. Changes and availability

We may change, add to or remove parts of the app, and we may stop offering it. Because your map and your places are kept on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, they stay with you if we do.

10. Ending

You can stop using Mapelle at any time, and delete everything with Delete account in the app's Settings. We may end your permission to use the app if you break these terms.

11. No promises

The Service is provided "as it is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises about it: not that it will always work, not that it is free of mistakes, and not that it is fit for any particular purpose.

12. Limit of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the developer is based. Disputes go to the courts of that place, unless consumer law in your country gives you the right to use your local courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page will change. Carrying on using the Service after a change means you accept the new terms.
