You know the streets to the shops, the station, a friend's place. The rest of the map is a guess.
Mapelle shows you which is which. Every street you have walked is clear. Everything else is still under the fog, waiting for you to go and look.
How it works
It starts dark.
The whole world is under fog. Nothing is cleared for you.
You walk.
The fog lifts about twenty metres either side of where you really are, and it stays lifted.
You keep what you find.
Pin a photo, a video, a voice note or a song to the spot where it happened.
Only where you have really been.
- A sure position clears the street you are on. A vague guess from wifi or phone masts clears a dot at most.
- A train ride is a line, not a row of dots. On a train or the tube a phone only knows where it is at stations. Mapelle joins the ride along the real track.
- Nothing is marked as discovered unless you were there.
Railway and tube lines are built in for Britain and Ireland today.
It keeps going in your pocket.
Allow location Always and the map grows with the screen off. Go for a walk, come home, open it, and see what you uncovered.
Pin what happened to where it happened.
- Photos, videos of up to a minute, a voice note, or music. A memory sits on the spot it belongs to.
- Add a whole batch from your photo library. Mapelle reads where each photo was taken, offers to put it there, and tells you which ones are already on your map.
- Mark any place as Been. Tap a cafe, a park or a station on the map. It gets a tick with its name, and photos of its own.
- See how long ago. The colour round a pin says how long it has been since you were there.
Look back at where you have been.
Every place, as a photo.
Your places month by month, newest first. Two, three or four to a row. Star the ones that matter.
A calendar that goes back years.
Jump to any month of any year and see the places from each day.
Played back, with its music.
Open a memory and its photos and videos play as a slideshow, with the song you chose for it.
Find a place, and the way there.
Search for a place and get a route to it on foot, by bike or by car.
Your map is yours.
There is no server to send it to.
